There's something special about swapping the hum of machinery for the gentle rumble of a bus on the open road. For two days and one night, we left our routines in Johor Bahru behind and headed to the historic streets of Malacca.
The Journey Begins
This wasn't about meetings or deadlines; it was about shedding our work titles for a while and simply connecting as people. The journey started at 5 in the morning, with friendly chatter and some much-needed sleep on the bus.

Once we arrived, we were treated to a catered buffet spread. We were welcomed with a feast of homemade Malaysian favourites—aromatic Nasi Lemak, flavourful fried Bee Hoon, and all the curries and kueh and fruits we could eat. Good food matters to us, and the theme of good food and good company continued throughout the rest of the trip.
More Than Just Games
Of course, it wouldn't be a team-building trip without some friendly competition! We were quickly divided into teams for everything from a frantic treasure hunt across the grounds to a surprisingly insightful blindfolded trust walk. It's one thing to rely on a colleague to hit a deadline; it's another thing entirely to rely on their voice to guide you when you can't see.

These moments were filled with laughter and a few stumbles, but they brought out the best in us. As our Admin Executive, Nuriziana, wisely noted, “Patience and teamwork pave the way to success.” It was a powerful, real-time reminder from our QC Manager, Luqman, that “Alone we can do so little, together we can achieve the impossible.”
But the real magic happened in between the scheduled activities. As our HR representative, Lin, put it, “It's not just about planning ‘fun’ activities — it's about building real connections, working as a team, and showing up for each other when it counts.” You could see it in the easy conversations, the shared jokes, and the way different departments naturally mixed. For QC Engineer Rohaina, it was clear that this kind of experience “helps bring people together and it improves how we work, talk, and connect as a team.”
Culture, Celebration, and a Little Bit of Fun
That evening, we were treated to the breathtaking theatrical show at Encore Melaka. Sitting together in the incredible 360-degree rotating theatre, we shared a collective sense of awe. Afterwards, the night was ours to enjoy, and that freedom allowed for even more spontaneous moments of bonding.
The next morning was all about celebrating our own. We sang for our September babies and shared a birthday cake, a simple moment that felt warm and genuine. Later, some of us showed off our (questionable) cycling skills while others perfected their selfie game. The whole trip was perfectly summed up by Wan Azma from our Project team: “Strength in unity, joy in the journey, and success in every shared experience.”

Our last stop was a visit to the vibrant Jonker Street for a bit of shopping and exploring before heading home. It was a colourful, energetic end to a fantastic trip.

Bringing the Vibe Back to Work
Back in Johor Bahru, the glow of our Malacca trip lingers. The conversations in the hallway feel a little easier, the collaboration a bit more natural. It was a fantastic experience that, as QC Technician Lossini said, “brings a positive impact and brings the team closer to one shared goal.”
Ultimately, as our Storekeeper Hazri expressed, the goal was simple: “Together, we unite and look forward to strengthening the bond between us.” Mission accomplished. We're more than just colleagues; we're a team, and we can't wait for the next adventure.
